Lecturer, School of Geography and Sustainable Development
Antje Brown joined the School of Geography & Sustainable Development in 2014. She is an education focused lecturer in SD and has been involved in a number of teaching, research and publication projects on environmental policy, multilevel governance, and environmental justice. Her PhD in Politics and her long membership in the Political Studies Association regularly takes her back to themes closely associated with the Centre. She recently co-edited a Palgrave open access book titled Rethinking Sustainability: principles and practice (to be published December 2025) and her previous research interests have centred around environmental and nuclear policy and politics in Scotland. Her contributions to the filed include chapters, articles, blogs. See, for instance, Scotland’s New Choice: Independence after Brexit | Centre on Constitutional Change, and How would an independent Scotland tackle climate change? | Centre on Constitutional Change. Apart from teaching on a number of SD modules and running her own Vertically Integrated Project Looking after Eden, Antje’s current passion lies in policy & discourse analysis of nuclear energy and nuclear weapons in Scotland. She is currently working on a research & writing project on ‘Scotland as a nuclear host’ and hopes to establish a wider network of likeminded researchers and educators.
