PhD Candidate – International Relations
BIO
Marcel Plichta is a PhD candidate in International Relations at the University of St Andrews and a fellow at the Centre for Global Law and Governance. His doctoral thesis tests hypotheses and interrogates assumptions surrounding the drivers for military interventions by minor powers.
Marcel works with Dr. Mateja Peter as a Researcher for PeaceRep’s Global Fragmentation project, with a focus on studying external influence in the Horn of Africa.
Marcel holds a MSc in Global Security from the University of Glasgow, where he graduated with distinction. Prior to starting his PhD, he worked as an Intelligence Analyst for the U.S. Department of Defense.
