Rick Fawn’s research included pan-European/Eurasian international organisations and how norms are maintained when challenged from within, as well as on comparative regionalism. Books on these topics include Castle on a Hill: The Visegrad Group, Regionalism, and the Remaking of Europe (Georgetown University Press, 2024); EU–Central Asian Interactions: Perceptions, Interests and Practices (Routledge, 2024, edited with Karolina Kluczewska and Oleg Korneev); and International Organizations and Internal Conditionality: Making Norms Matter (Palgrave Macmillan, 2013); and Globalising the Regional, Regionalising the Global (Cambridge University Press, 2009; as editor). He is regularly invited to give policy briefings especially on and in conflict zones in Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union.
